Our aim is news that is accurate, clear and respectful. These are our rules.
Sources
- Every fact rests on at least two recent, trustworthy sources, one of them official where possible.
- We name our sources in every story and reel.
News and claims
- What an official body or two independent outlets confirm, we present as news.
- What activists or social media say without confirmation, we present as a claim, and say so plainly: “activists say…, with no official confirmation”.
- We give the other side a chance to respond where possible, and say when they have not.
People
- In the comments we show, we use first names only.
- We do not publish insults, threats or sectarian speech; we cut them or mute them in video.
- We treat officials and public figures with respect, including when we criticise them.
«صوت الناس» (Voice of the People)
- We show the citizen’s video as they published it, credited to its source.
- The opinions in it are the speaker’s own and do not necessarily reflect OverDose’s.
Images and video
- We credit every image and video to its owner, and never hide other outlets’ watermarks.
- Music is licensed or royalty-free, and credited.
Advertising
- Sponsored content is clearly labelled «إعلان» (ad) or «برعاية» (sponsored). Advertisers have no say over our news.
Mistakes
We sometimes get things wrong, and we correct them openly. See our corrections policy.
